CHILIKA CENTRAL FISHERMEN COOPERATIVE SOCIETY:

Chilika Central Fishermen Cooperative Society Ltd. has been formed
during 2010 with a view to reactivate the PFCSs functioning in the
Chilika region. F & ARD Deptt. has sanctioned and released Rs.2.00
Crores during 2011 for reactivation of these PFCSs. Rs.1.00 Crore has
been distributed to 10 PFCSs @ Rs.10.00 lakh each. Another Rs.1.00
Crores is to be distributed shortly after selection of PFCS in the next
Board meeting. Further 1515 nos. of insulated icebox (@Rs.2200 each)
have been distributed to members with assistance of MPEDA (50%) and CDA
(30%) & rest 20% borne by the beneficiaries. About 2000 members of the
PFCSs have been trained on responsible fisheries in Chilika Lake with
the assistance of
FISHCOFED.
GROUP ACCIDENT INSURANCE:
�
Objective of the scheme is to provide social security to fishers and
their families Both Inland & Marine sector. .FISHCOFED is the nodal
agency. GoI and State Govt. bear the premium on 50:50 basis (Rs.14.50
each). For the year 2008-09 and 2009-10, Orissa stood none to second in
the country in terms of coverage of fishermen i.e. 8.00 lakhs and
awarded with trophy. Further in terms of settlement of claims involving
an amount of Rs.1.08 Crores, Orissa stands 1st in the country for the
Insurance year 2009-10.
NATIONAL MISSION FOR
PROTIEN SUPPLEMENT (NMPS)

Deptt. of AHD & F, Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India implemented a
scheme “National Mission for Protein Supplement” (NMPS) as a
sub-component of RKVY during the Financial Year 2011-12 to encourage
fisheries development in the following areas.

Reservoir fisheries development (100% grant)
�
Intensive aquaculture in ponds and tanks (40% grant)
�
During 2011-12, target for excavation of 500.00 ha new tanks under NMPS
with 40% subsidy assistance under CSP. Government of India allocated
570.00 lakhs for development under intensive culture and Rs 334.00 lakhs
have been allocated for cage culture in Upper Kolab reservoir under
reservoir fisheries development programme
Mahatma Gandhi National
Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS):
Excavation of ”Multi purpose farm pond in the land of small and marginal
farmers with fulfilment of the basic objective of employment generation
and other benefits in form of Piscicuture, Water conservation,
Protective irrigation, horticulture etc for improvement of their
livelihood status
The aim of the scheme is to
•
Create 3000 hectors of water spread area through excavation with 100 %
assistance.
•
Bring the weaker section of the society like SC /ST, Small Marginal BPL
Groups to take up pisciculture for enhancing their socio economic
condition in a 0.50 ha pond .
•
Provide animal protein as food and take up horticulture in the
embankment
•
Increase the fish production of the state
•
Provide wages to the job card holders

Introduction of “Mastya Credit Card”
�
Introduction of “Mastya Credit Card” scheme for small and marginal
farmers @ Rs.30,000 (RKVY Rs.15,000/-(subsidy) + Cooperative Bank
Rs.15,000/- (short-term loan)) for fingerling production was approved in
the meeting held on 17.6.2011 under the Chairmanship of Principal
Secretary, Agriculture Deptt. and 2000 MGNREGS beneficiaries will be
benefited under the said scheme during the current year. Subsequently it
was finalized in the Review Meeting held under the Chairmanship of
Hon’ble Chief Minister, Orissa on 30.6.2011 and lunched the programme on
10.7.2011. The central aim of this scheme is to produce adequate number
of quality and healthy fingerlings for stocking in grow out culture
ponds by the fish farmers of the State so as to harvest higher quantum
of fish. The District Central Cooperative Banks, on principle, have
agreed to provide credit support up to Rs.30,000/-. The subsidy
requirement in case of individual beneficiaries i.e. 50% of the project
cost will be provided under RKVY scheme i.e. Rs.13,000.00 for fingerling
production and Rs.2,000.00 for horticulture activities through
back-ending subsidy adjustment. Thus the maximum subsidy per unit of
multipurpose farm pond is Rs.15,000/-.
NFDB –
National
Fisheries Development Board. MOU between State Dept and NFDB,
Hydrabad has been finalized and signed in the year 2006-07 and
accordingly Financial assistance for the following Activities

Brackish Water Sector
The following initiatives have been taken under brackish water
sector to boost production.
1.Culture of SPF L.vannamei
The Coastal Aquaculture Authority (CAA) has given permission in
respect of five farms in Orissa. They are as follows.

In this connection the Member Secretary, CAA has given public
notice to shrimp farmers. The detailed guidelines for culture of L.
vannamei can be seen in the web site of CAA (www.caa.gov.in)

The Chandrabhaga Hatchery has been renovated and is ready for
production of L.vannamei seeds.
2.
Demonstration
programme of Asian Sea Bass (Bhekti) fish culture is proposed to be
taken up in Balasore/ Bhadrak Dist. under technical guidance of CIBA
which will be funded by NFDB.
