With love and affection of citizen of Bhubaneswar and grace of god I have been given the opportunity to serve the holy city of Bhubaneswar as Mayor. In pursuance of the policies and dynamic leadership of Shri Naveen Patnaik Hon'ble Chief Minister Orissa I will strive to work hard to provide you transparency in functioning of Municipal Corporation and improve the civic amenities of the city.

Welcome to the official site of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Bhubaneswar http://www.orissa.gov.in/ourbmc/.  Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation faces uphill task of providing civic amenities in an expanding metro city where due to migration from neighboring rural areas & districts, population is growing at a rate, which can tell heavily upon resources of any municipal body. The population of the city, which stood at 6.47 lacs in 2001, is approaching one million in 2005.

The above scenario would be sufficient to suggest that providing civic services in such a large area is a stupendous task. BMCs performance should, therefore, be judged keeping in view its responsibilities and financial constraints under which it functions. We strive hard to come up to expectations of citizens. At times, citizens are not aware of the activities of the Civic Body's performance.

The website has, therefore, been prepared primarily with an aim to enlighten citizens about BMC's activities and services to the citizens & residents of Bhubaneswar in an efficient and user-friendly manner and reduce inconveniences caused to the public for getting information from various departments of the Municipal Corporation. We have done our best to meet our aim. We are still genuinely interested in knowing its shortcomings and would welcome suggestions to make it more citizens friendly.
