Ongoing Partnerships:

• The Department for International Development (DFID) of the Government of UK is assisting the Orissa Public Enterprise Programme through a grant of about Rs.85 crores. The programme is underway since October 1999 and has three major components:

  • Voluntary redundancy payments to employees of state owned enterprises

  • Technical assistance and support for privatisation

  • Social safety net programme for separated workers

• Adam Smith Institute has been appointed by DFID as the lead consultants for the project and are advising the Department of Public Enterprises on the ongoing reform programme.

Kalinga  Institute  of  Industrial  Technology  has  been  appointed  under the DFID funded  project  to  run  the  social  safety  net  programme.  The programme is run through a network of training institutes across the state.
