DISTRIBUTION
OF HOMESTEAD LAND UNDER VASUNDHARA SCHEME
The
management of land and its distribution to the needy persons are the foremost
responsibilities of the Revenue & Disaster management Department.
Government land up to the extent of four decimals / cents is being provided
free of premium to each homesteadless family for house site purpose since
1974-75. Vigorous attempts are being made from the highest level of Government
down to the field level to expedite the implementation of this important work.
According to the enumeration, as many as 2, 49,334 homesteadless families are
found in the State. This system is being governed under the provisions of
Orissa Government Land Settlement Act, 1962 and the rule, 1983.
During
the year 2005-06 the project “Vasundhara”
has been launched on a mission mode under which it has been decided to provide
all 2,49,334 homesteadless families with house sites within a span of three
years.
The
limit of distribution of Government land under the scheme ‘Vasundhara’ had been
enhanced to 10 decimals from 4 decimals vide Revenue and Disaster Management
Department Notification No. LD/25/2008-28733 dtd.03.07.2008.
All
Collectors have been impressed upon to take up a fresh survey on a campaign
mode to enumerate homesteadless families in rural areas and the
process should be completed by 15th June, 2011. This has been
communicated to all Collectors vide this Department letter No.
18923/R&DM
dated 03.05.2011.
After
completion of the survey, homestead land up to Ac. 0.10 should be provided in
accordance with the principles laid down under OGLS Rules to all the eligible
families identified in the survey. The exercise should be completed by
31.12.2011.
