Distribution of Ceiling Surplus Land in the State as on 31.10.2005.

The distribution of Ceiling Surplus Land has been started with effect from 26.9.1970. It has been decided that 70% of Ceiling Surplus Land vested in Government would be settled with persons belonging to S.T. & S.C. Categories in proportion to their respective population in the village. The remaining lands would be settled with other categories of landless persons. In all cases upto maximum of Ac.0.7 standard acre of agriculture land is being distributed on rayati basis free of salami.

            Government of India has fixed target  for the State for distribution of ceiling surplus  land to the landless people which has been included as point No. 5-A under 20 point programme. Our State has achieved the target fixed by Government of India as shown below during the last 5 years beginning from the year 2001-2002 to 2005-2006.

Since inception till end of September,2005 Ac.1,83,607, of ceiling surplus land has been determined. Out of this Ac.171,926.00 has been taken over possession. As against the land taken over possession, the total area Ac.159172.861 have been distributed among 1,41,910 landless beneficiaries. Possession of Ac.11,681.000 could not be taken over because of litigation in different Courts. The details of distribution category-wise are mentioned below-

We are not able to distribute Ac.17664.380 acres of ceiling surplus land taken over possession because of the fact that most of the lands are now locked up in different Courts and for other reasons as mentioned below:

An extent of Ac.11247.77 of land is locked up in litigation in 1197 cases in different Courts.

An extent of Ac.4377.43 of land is kept for public purpose.

An extent of Ac.2039.18 of land after making it fit for cultivation will be distributed among the landless beneficiaries.

In our State Ac. 11247.774 of land has been locked up under litigation at various Courts. Necessary instructions have been issued to all Revenue Officers to expedite the disposal of pending Ceiling cases and take steps for distribution of the ceiling surplus land among the eligible S.C. and S.T and other landless people.

An extent of Ac.588.509 net ceiling surplus land is available for distribution.

For the current year the target for distribution of ceiling surplus land for the State is Ac.250.00 as stipulated by Government of India vide their letter No. 11.10.2005-TTP dtd. 14.6.2005. Steps are being taken to achieve the target by 31.3.2006. During this year an area of Ac.59.27 ceiling surplus land has been distributed among 36 S.C. , 40 S.T. and 65 other category beneficiaries.
