Construction and running of Girls’ Hostels:130 proposals for construction of Girls Hostel to be set up one in each Educationally Backward Block (EBB) has been approved by Govt. of India. Funds have not been released.
National Scheme of Incentive to Girl Students:Proposal in respect of 23585 eligible girls students relating to the year 2008-09 and proposal for 35314 eligible girls students for the year 2009-10 have been furnished to Govt. of India.
Setting up of Model Schools:111 proposals for setting up of Model Schools in Educationally Backward Blocks (EBB) have already been approved by Govt. of India. No funds have been released.
Information and Communication Technology Programme:Proposal for 4000 High Schools has been sent to Govt. of India, where the scheme will be implemented.
Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (INSPIRE):The aforesaid scheme introduce during the year 2009-10. The list of the students of 28 nos. of elementary schools and 1985 nos. of secondary schools has been sent to Govt. of India under the scheme.
Further the list of students of 2618 nos. of elementary schools and 4186 nos. of secondary schools have been sent to Govt. of India during the year 2010-11 at the 1st phase. For the same year a list of students of 266 nos. of elementary schools and 695 nos. of secondary schools have been sent to Govt. of India.
Accordingly Govt. of India have released a sum of Rs.1,96,10,000/- for implementation of the scheme.
Modernising Madrasa Education
This scheme has been revised as SCHEME FOR PROVIDING QUALITY EDUCATION IN MADRASA (SPQEM) by Govt. of India. The State Grant-in-Aid Committee headed by the Principal Secretary to Govt., S&ME Department in its meeting dtd.09.02.10 has recommended proposal for Rs.2,16,81,899/- in respect of 98 new Madrasas, Rs.1,21,96,000/- for providing science Math, Kits, Computer lab and teachers training in favour of 172 Madrasa and Rs.5,00,000/- for Odisha State Board of Madrasa Education in order to monitor the scheme of providing quality education in Madrasas and strengthening Madrasa Board and submitted to Govt. of India vide this Deptt. L.No.9466 dt.04.06.2010.
The State grant-in-Aid committee dtd.19.05.10 has also recommended 23 eligible minority institutions (2 High Schools and 21 Madrasas) a sum of Rs.10,88,72,400/- under the scheme of Infrastructure Development in Private Aided/Un-aided Minority Institutions (IDMI) and submitted to Govt. of India vide this Deptt. L.No.10858 dt.25.06.2010.
For the development of Sanskrit Education in the State, there are 10 Government Sanskrit Tols in the State. Besides, there are 192 non-Govt. aided Sanskrit Tols which are imparting Sanskrit Education in the State.
Adolescence Education Programme:-
To create awareness about the HIV/AIDS among the Secondary School students, State Adolescence Education Programme (SAEP) has been launched. Steps have been taken up for training of nodal teachers and two peer educators from each Govt. Schools and observance of important days related to Adolescence Education/AIDS Education Programme for community awareness and action.
Engagement of Language Teachers
Necessary proposals has been sent to Govt. of India for release of 100% financial assistance towards appointment of 25 Urdu Language Teachers in High Schools for improvement and up-liftment of Urdu education vide this Deptt. L.No.22920 dt.22.12.10 and reminded vide L.No.2350 dt.02.02.11.
