ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT:

            Sports and youth Services Department was set up as a separate Department w.e.f 1-01-1996 on bifurcation of thye then Sports & Culture and Youth Services Department. It is basically one of the general services Department of the State which aims at promoting various Sports and games as well as encouraging the young mass in involvement of National Integration through different youth progarmmes.

             Sports & Youth Services Department have an executive wing at the Heads of Department level namely Directorate of Sports & Youth Services. Besides three numbers autonomous bodies such as  Orissa State Youth Welfare Board (OSYWB), Orissa Council of Sports (OCS) and Biju Pattnaik Swimming Pool cum Sports Complex are functioning within jurisdiction of this Department.
