The major activities of the department are broadly classified in to 4 categories such as

1) Promotion of Handloom sector.

2) Promotion of Sericulture sector.

3) Promotion of spinning mill sector.

4) Promotion of power loom sector
5) Promotion of Apparel sector.

The Directorate of Textiles executes the plans, programmes in the field formulated by the Government.
